Guji is one of Ethiopia’s most celebrated coffee-growing regions, known for producing bright, floral, and fruit-forward coffees with exceptional clarity. Nestled in the highlands of southern Ethiopia, Guji’s elevations often exceed 2,000 meters, and its rich volcanic soil, microclimates, and heirloom coffee varieties create the perfect environment for growing distinctive, high-quality beans.
Historically part of the larger Sidama and Yirgacheffe zones, Guji has in recent years carved out its own identity—both in coffee and culture. The region is named after the Guji Oromo people, who have lived in harmony with the land for generations. Many farmers in Guji practice semi-forest coffee farming, hand-picking ripe cherries and drying them on raised beds using time-honored methods.
Guji coffees often stand out for their juicy, complex flavor profiles—think tropical fruit, jasmine, bergamot, and stone fruit—making them favorites among specialty coffee lovers worldwide.
